Altadena Stables is looking for high school students and young adults to assist as volunteer counselors for its Summer Horse Camp.

Having an experience with handling horses is preferred, but is not required as long as an individual has the desire and willingness to learn. Training sessions will be offered and will focus on safety, handling of horses, horse behavior, and grooming.

We are planning a wonderful summer full of opportunities for your horse-loving child. Select the program that best meets your expectations -- we have something for everyone!

Altadena Stables Summer Horse Camp
The emphasis here is on riding. On most days, campers will ride twice a day -- once in the morning and then again in the afternoon. They will also groom, saddle, bathe, and be involved in many other activities focused around the horses. Campers will have the opportunity to care for an equine buddy during the week. We offer both full-day and half-day sessions.

Full-day sessions: 8:30 to 2:30
Half-day sessions: 8:30- Noon

More Altadena Stables Opportunities:

Child Educational Center offers a program for children entering 1st grade to 7th grade. CEC campers will be at Altadena Stables from 9:00am to 3:00pm. CEC will operate a before and after camp program from 7:00-9:00am and 3:00-6:00pm at their Oak Grove site in La Canada. They will also provide the transportation to and from the stables.

The path taken: Trails around Altadena

Adjacent to Angeles Forest, Altadena Stables gives access to trails heading north to Mount Wilson, and all the way south to South Pasadena. Actually, you could probably go beyond Mount Wilson and make your way through the Cascade trails; maybe you can find a boarder who has tried it. But that which is in our own backyard, and a few miles up and down -- well, the sights and sounds are unforgetable.
