There's no better Christmas present than Christmas Camp at Altadena Stables. Mark the calendar for December 19th through the 22nd, full- and half-day sessions available. Details will be posted shortly.

Why is Christmas Camp the perfect Christmas gift for your child? Here's what Altadena Stable trainers Marcy Mc Lemore and Teri Trujillo have to say, based on their many successful years working with riders of all ages and at all levels of experience:

Riding starts from the ground up. Our instruction begins with building a sense of rapport and understanding between student and horse. First through grooming and saddling, ultimately working up to a safe, confident and happy riding experience.

We've developed the Core Equestrian Technique which focuses on the foundational skills of riding and builds in incremental steps. The skills that are learned help the rider gain the proper posture, balance, and nonverbal communication in order to develop a partnership with the horse.

Self-esteem is the by-product of this accomplishment.

Remembering Summer

It may not feel like it right now, but summer is over and autumn is here. So time to look at some pictures from this year's eight (count 'em -- EIGHT!) Altadena Summer Camps.

What did we learn? All about the horse -- top to bottom. How to ride, pick the hooves, braid the mane, saddle up, and cool down. Maybe there were some bonus benefits -- new friendships, stronger muscles, and an added appreciation and sense of responsibility for our fellow creatures.

The path taken: Trails around Altadena

Adjacent to Angeles Forest, Altadena Stables gives access to trails heading north to Mount Wilson, and all the way south to South Pasadena. Actually, you could probably go beyond Mount Wilson and make your way through the Cascade trails; maybe you can find a boarder who has tried it. But that which is in our own backyard, and a few miles up and down -- well, the sights and sounds are unforgetable.
